
Minali Nigam is an internal medicine intern at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and incoming neurology resident at Mass General Brigham.
She completed her medical and journalism graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and aspires to merge her interests in medicine and storytelling to raise public health awareness.
She's reported and written for CNN Health, covering the coronavirus pandemic and researching stories for medical correspondents Elizabeth Cohen and Dr. Sanjay Gupta. In 2016, she worked as an intern at North Carolina Health News, where she wrote about state health policy. She received the Maxwell Graduate Scholarship and North Carolina Medical Society Foundation Scholarship for her work in medical journalism.
Minali graduated with a BA in Psychology from Duke University and received the Robertson Scholarship, a full-tuition, undergraduate merit scholarship to Duke and UNC. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, Gold Humanism Honors Society and Phi Beta Kappa.
As a physician-journalist, she hopes to encourage reflection, connection and healing. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends, running, skiing, meditating, reading, baking and watching college basketball.
